What we do

We help people living with pain get the help they need, when they need it

Pain doesn't wait. For many people the right treatment or equipment exists, but it is out of reach because of cost or a long waiting list. We step in to close that gap.

Why we exist

Living with chronic pain or a disability that causes pain can affect every part of life: sleep, relationships, money and the ability to work. Treatment that isn't available on the NHS, or has a waiting time many months away, can leave people struggling for far longer than they should.

The Beyond Pain Foundation was set up to change that. We raise money through our trading company, donations, sponsorship and grants, and we use it to fund practical help for people who could not otherwise afford it.

Who we help

We help people who have a condition that causes them pain, whether that is a registered disability or a condition that needs quicker treatment than the NHS can offer. We look especially at how the funding would improve someone's quality of life, and whether it would help them stay in work or return to a safe working environment.

How we help

Every month we open a new funding round. People apply through their own secure account and tell us, in their own words, what they are facing and how funding would help. Our trustees review every application and decide together how to share the funds available that month.

Depending on how much we have raised and how urgent each person's needs are, we may fund several applications in the same month.

What guides us

Our values

Everyone's pain is different. We ask you to tell us about your situation in your own words.

Fair and open

Our trustees assess every application against the same published requirements.
