Requirements and what we fund

Check you can apply before you start

We want to help as many people as we can, fairly. These requirements help our trustees make consistent decisions and help you know whether your application can be considered.

Who can apply

You can apply if all of these are true:

  • You are 18 or over and live in the UK.
  • You live with pain caused by a long-term condition, a disability or an injury. You don't need a registered disability. See the conditions we support.
  • You can provide medical evidence of your condition, such as a letter from your GP, consultant or therapist.
  • The treatment, equipment or support you need isn't available to you on the NHS, or the waiting time is too long for your situation.
  • You can't afford to pay for it yourself, and you can show us your financial situation.
  • You can tell us clearly what you need and what it costs, ideally with a written quote.

What we take into account

Our trustees look at every application as a whole. They consider:

  • Need: how much the funding would improve your quality of life or reduce your pain.
  • Urgency: what would happen if you had to wait.
  • Work: whether it would help you stay in work or return to a safe working environment.
  • Finances: whether you could reasonably pay for it another way.
  • Value: whether the cost is reasonable for what you need.

Meeting the requirements doesn't guarantee funding. How many people we can help each month depends on the money we have raised.

What we can fund

  • Private treatment such as physiotherapy, osteopathy, hydrotherapy and specialist consultations
  • Pain management programmes and courses
  • Ergonomic chairs, sit-stand desks, keyboards and other workplace equipment
  • Mobility and daily living aids
  • Home adaptations and safety equipment, such as grab rails and bathing aids
  • Other essential costs linked to your condition, when they make a clear difference
